Kathy, Hans, Joe and Ben;

what a wonderful 5 days this has been! Your very warm hospitality has far exceeded our hopes and expectations.

The cabin was incredibly clean, the horses were very well cared for and special thanks to your thoughtful specialized cooking.

We look forward to seeing all of you and the horses again in the near future!

(Joe and Ben, you have been wonderful hosts)

July 2008.

Check out: at 11 a.m. for packages without horseback riding on the day you leave OR check out anytime in the afternoon if you booked packages with horseback riding the day you leave.

The horseback rides will be around 3 hours in summer (mornings only; due to hot weather and bug season which can be a distress for our horses in the afternoons; the well-being of our horses is important to us). We have breakfast at 9 a.m. and shortly after all go out and get the horses ready and have a great time. We are done around 1 p.m. and give the horses are well deserved rest in the day's heat. A lunch package will be ready to take to the cabin, nearby lake or on a hike. Guests love to spend hot afternoons at nearby Crimson Lake with its beach and pine tree shore, or go on a trip towards the mountains, visit the nearby historic site with fur trader history, go shopping at unique western and art shops in Rocky Mountain House or visit country teahouses or "old western towns" (trips by own car or rental car). There are hiking trails at Crimson Lake and Twin Lake and mountain hiking 1hour drive West of the ranch. After the ride soak in the 4 person hot tub with a view of the horse pastures or enjoy a soak at night under the stars.

The horseback riding at Ride the Wind Ranch is set up for experienced riders or riders with some trail riding experience and being agile, active and have a great sense of adventure. We show you how to saddle your horse, introduce you to horsemanship and western riding and take you on horseback rides through thick bush, trot on wider trails and lope along dirt roads. Our well trained, responsive horses (Paint, Quarter and Appaloosa) love to work for their riders. We do have approved riding helmets available or wear your cowboy hat as a protection from weather and branches. Minors (up to 18) will have to wear a riding helmet. All riders will be asked to sign a waiver form before any horse activities or canoeing. If you would like to see a copy of the waiver form before your arrival, send us a note upon your booking.

What to bring: boots, a cowboy hat or baseball cap, gloves, long sleeved shirts for horseback riding; a rain jacket, bug repellent, sun screen. Approved riding helmets for minors or we do have them available for you.

Beverages: we serve water, ice tea, hot tea and coffee. You may bring your own alcoholic beverages and pop. There is a fridge in each room.
